The Pond Club is Rolling
After a successful start, the Pond Club is moving along well and is back into full swing. Meetings will be held the last
Saturday of the month at 10:00am in the seminar room in the Gift Shop.

Spring into Ponds
Spring is just around the corner and your ponds will be alive once again. Right now they're covered with ice,
snow and, yes, that wonderful string algae that grows faster than you can imagine. Do not fear ... algae won't
harm anything and the fish may actually eat it.
The weather will begin to warm up in March and then you can start to clean ponds and prepare them for the
summer months ahead. Clean you filters, remove leaves and debris. For the ambitious pond owner, drain the
pond, catch the fish, and power wash all the rocks. Ginger valley offers these services and pond openings
for your convenience. Call us now to schedule your pond cleaning/opening, as this service gets booked quickly.
Remember the temptation to feed your fish. The water temperature must be 50 degrees consistently for at least
a week before you begin your feeding process. Feed them only high protein food. Cheerios is a good substitute.
Be careful not to feed them more than they can eat in five minutes.
A beneficial bacteria needs to be added every Spring to jump start the ecological system in the pond. Clear
Pond is a great liquid bacteria that may be added throughout the entire season. Once the plants begin to
grow and fish become active, the pond should begin to balance. If string algae should remain a problem,
Algaefix or Green Clean are two great products to treat it.
Ginger Valley will be selling Koi and Goldfish this year. If you're looking for a new family member, come in and pick out your
